Nespresso Launches Coffee Capsules Made Of 80% Recycled Aluminium.

Nestlé has announced that Nespresso has launched coffee capsules made with 80% recycled aluminium.

The move is in line with the company’s goal to minimise waste and maximise the reuse of materials.

The food giant also claimed that it first-ever coffee capsules made from 80% recycled aluminium.

The new capsules have been introduced in the Original Line Master Origin Colombia coffee, Nestlé added.

By the end of 2021, Nespresso aims to switch to coffee capsules made using recycled aluminium for the entire Original Line and Vertuo ranges.

‘A Significant Milestone’

Nespresso's head of sustainability, Jérôme Pérez, said, "We are constantly challenging ourselves to improve the sustainability and circularity of our operations, including the way we source, use, and recycle materials.

“Reaching 80% recycled aluminium in our capsules is a significant milestone, and something we have worked hard to achieve together with our suppliers.”

Nespresso is also working to increase the percentage of recycled aluminium in coffee capsules.

The launch of the capsules follows the introduction of new fully recyclable boxes for Nespresso machines, the company said.
