Nestlé Brand Cailler To Celebrate 200th Anniversary

Nestlé-owned Cailler is to unveil a new product range and host a number of special events next year as it celebrates its 200th anniversary.

The oldest remaining chocolate brand in Switzerland, Cailler was founded in 1819, and its Maison Cailler facility in Broc, southwest of Bern, will form the centrepiece of the anniversary festivities next year, Nestlé said in a statement.

'The success of Cailler chocolate comes from a deep respect for tradition and the excellence of its ingredients and manufacturing processes,' Nestlé said. 'The entire process ‘from bean to bar’ happens under one roof, including the roasting of the cocoa beans as well as the hazelnuts and almonds used in some chocolates.'

As has been the case since the company's foundation, all milk used in its chocolate production is sourced from within the vicinity of the production facility.

The 47 dairy farms that the company sources milk from are within 30 kilometres of Broc, and are certified by the IP-SUISSE standard for their environmentally friendly production. In addition, all cocoa sourced is 100% UTZ-certified, and sourced via the Nestlé Cocoa Plan.
