Next Edition Of Alimentaria To Be Held In May 2021

The organiser of Alimentaria, Fira de Barcelonahas decided to host the next edition of the event from 17 - 20 May 2021 at its Gran Via venue.

Alimentaria is the most important trade show for food, drinks and foodservice in Spain and one of the top events at a global level.

The president of Alimentaria, Josep Lluís Bonet, commented, "The decision supports the majority of the industry's productive and associative network, committing to holding the event in a more favourable environment and without so many limitations on international mobility.

"Our common objective is, as always, to be a great tool for the industry [...] and to achieve the best possible edition and participation."

The decision has been supported by important players in the food and beverage industry in Spain including, among others, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA); the Spanish Food and Drinks Industry Federation (FIAB); ICEX Spain Export and Investment and the Spanish Confectionery Association (Produlce).

The conference will analyse the future of the agri-food industry, restaurants, hotels and tourism in Spain with service and distribution companies in these sectors.

General Manager of Alimentaria Exhibitions, J. Antonio Valls, said, A new scenario is opening up which makes it possible to foresee a great edition for May 2021 with the complicity of the industry, with a high degree of internationalisation and reactivation of international demand which is so necessary both for the industry and for the trade show itself”.

Fira de Barcelona will monitor the evolution of the pandemic to ensure the safety of workers, organisers, exhibitors, visitors and suppliers, if necessary on the dates of the event.

It has drafted an anti-COVID protocol in collaboration with the specialist risk management consultancy Aon and the epidemiological advice of the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.

Alimentaris's organising committee is comprised of the industry's main associations and companies in Spain.
