Portuguese company Sapientia Romanade has launched the 'Wine to Eat' product line, consisting of caviars, jams and chocolate truffles.
According to project coordinator, Ricardo Correia, the concept behind the initiative is to redefine the way wine is enjoyed, through unique food products that have a scent of Portuguese wine but contain no alcohol.
All of the food products are handmade and no special machinery is used in their production.
The main target for the products is the international market, so all product branding has been done in English. Initially, the 'Wine to Eat' line will rely on distribution networks in France, Switzerland, Sweden and Luxembourg, previously used by the Chaves-based company to distribute its honey products.
In Portugal, the products are on sale in gourmet shops, delicatessens, wine stores and can also be purchased online.
