One In Three Portuguese Shoppers Buy Boxes Of Chocolates

One in three Portuguese shoppers regularly buy boxes of chocolates, according to a Marktest TGI study.

The study revealed that 2.78 million consumers claimed to have purchased chocolate boxes in the last 12 months. This figure represents 32.5% of Portuguese residents aged 15 and over.

This purchasing habit is more frequent among women, and people aged between 35 and 44, while younger shoppers are less likely to purchase these products.

The data also shows that Ferrero Rocher is the brand of boxed chocolates preferred by Portuguese consumers.

Consumption Trends

Portugal's association of chocolatiers, Associação dos Industriais de Chocolates e Confeitaria, has said that chocolate sales in the country are set to exceed €200 million in 2017, representing growth of between 3% and 5% compared to last year.
