More DIA Stores To Process Online Orders
Spanish retailer DIA has announced that eight more stores will exclusively process online orders in light of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The new additions include five stores in Madrid and one each in Seville, Cadiz and Malaga.
Previously, the company offered the service from three outlets – one in Madrid and two in Barcelona.
The retailer has reinforced its workforce by almost 1,000 people in these stores comprising, among others, order completion staff or ‘pickers’ and home delivery personnel.
Ricardo Álvarez, CEO of DIA Spain, added, “We are adapting in record time to meet the growing demand for online shopping from customers.
"We are looking for all the options that are in our hands to make this possible and continue increasing our ability to serve and reach everyone.”
Collaboration With Glovo
DIA has also expanded its home delivery service to nearly 500 stores in collaboration with Glovo.
The partnership will enable the company to offer online services to approximately 2.5 million people in 494 towns across the country.
Both companies have implemented the use of gloves and masks during the preparation and delivery of orders to prevent infection.
In addition, the Glovo delivery staff will maintain a distance of two metres from customers and leave the purchase at their doors.
They will also be responsible for signing the receipts on the customers' behalf, eliminating any physical contact, the retailer added.
