Finland's S Group Sees Rapid Adoption Of Online Grocery Services

Finnish retailer S Group has said that the number of visitors to its online Foodie.fi platform has more than doubled in the past two weeks, which is putting pressure on fulfilling orders.

The group said that it has recruited additional employees to address delivery issues, with some users only able to avail of delivery windows one week later.

It said that the congestion has been caused by fears over the spread of coronavirus, with increased numbers of Finnish consumers choosing to shop from home.

'Primary Goal'

Antto Pajulahti, development manager, SOK, said that the group's "primary goal" is to increase capacity, in order to achieve faster order fulfilment.

The group has announced plans to unveil 'at least a dozen' new e-commerce platforms over the next month, to meet increased demand.

Within the Helsinki metropolitan area, the group's Prisma Viikki store set up an online food store in a week, commencing deliveries from 2 April last.
