Burgundy Négociants Expand Vineyard Ownership

In France, the négociant Béjot Vins & Terroirs has purchased the flagging Maison Corton André for a fee that has not been disclosed.

Corton André owns the burgundy wine labels Pierre André and Reine Pédauque, as well as more than 150 hectares (370 acres) of vineyard across the département. Béjot will add this to the 150 hectares of vineyard that it already owns in the Burgundy region.

With a modern winery installation in Meursault, Béjot will close its Corton André winery, but with this purchase, the 2014 vintage will see it bring in an ever-greater share of grapes from the famous Corton Hill, where Béjot already possesses important holdings.

Béjot took over Moillard and Chartron et Trébuchet a number of years ago, and this acquisition will see it move into the group of the largest Burgundy négociants.
