Anuga 2019 Preview

They don't call Anuga the world's biggest food fair for nothing. This year's event, taking place from 5 to 9 October at Koelnmesse, Germany, looks set to be the biggest yet – some 7,405 exhibitors and 165,000 visitors attended the 2017 edition. With ten trade shows, eleven trend themes and a comprehensive conference programme, it's certain to be the place where attendees can 'taste the future'. ESM presents a comprehensive overview of this year's event – a must read for would-be attendees.

Kantar Brand Footprint Report

The Kantar Brand Footprint report showcases the brands that are winning at the 'moment of truth' – when they are chosen by shoppers. Tracking purchasing habits across 43 countries, it's an important barometer of how consumers are shopping on a global level. For the fourth year running, ESM will showcase the most-chosen brands in several key European markets, and examine what these statistics tell us about the continent's shopping habits.

Meat & Poultry

With growing consumer appreciation for provenance and quality, the Meat & Poultry category is poised to benefit – indeed, retailers across Europe are upping the level of investment in their meat categories, in order to promote premiumisation and traceability. ESM investigates the trends driving category growth, and speaks to some of the leading innovators operating in this dynamic segment. We also examine how retailer supply chains have adapted to ensure quality right up to the point of purchase.

In-Store Lighting

The right sort of lighting can make all the difference as to whether your food displays convey high quality or appear unappetising. Lighting is one of the most important tools in the retailer's arsenal, and can give stores a new lease of life – even without costing the earth. ESM explores the In-Store Lighting category, examining areas in which retailers can benefit from embracing the right lighting solutions.

Supply Chain: Warehouse Automation

The need for greater logistics efficiency, coupled with an ever-growing range of retail channels, has provided a significant boost to the warehouse automation sector in receive years; indeed, those that have not applied some degree of automation to their supply chain practices risk being left behind.
