Albert Heijn Expands Presence In Belgium, Launches 50th Store

  • Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has announced the opening of its 50th store in Belgium, in Maasmechelen, Limburg province.

    The retailer aims to expand its network in the country to around 100 stores and reach out to more Flemish shoppers.

    'A Special Opening'

    Commenting on the launch, general manager of Albert Heijn Belgium, Raf Van den Heuvel, said, "Albert Heijn loves Limburg. Limburg loves us. With this store, we strengthen our presence in the region and we really wanted that. Maasmechelen is a special opening for us.

    "This store is our 50th in Belgium. It is a milestone in our success story that goes further: we ultimately want to go to 100 stores. So we are busy opening beautiful stores again in the coming period."

    'Extra Fresh' Concept

    The new store in Maasmechelen will focus on the 'extra fresh' concept, offering fresh meals, salads, fruit and vegetables, flowers, plants, and bakery products at affordable prices.

    It will also offer a wide range of breakfast and lunch items as well as beverages.

    The new outlet will be open from 8:00 to 20:00 from Monday to Saturday and will employ 45 people to offer customers a convenient shopping experience.
