Albert Heijn And Selecta To Open Unmanned 'To Go' Stores

Albert Heijn and Selecta are to open new, unmanned 'to go' outlets in offices across the Netherlands and introduce the concept to Belgium in the near future.

The Albert Heijn 'to go' stores are tailor made for each location, taking into account the demands of organisations looking for flexibility in offering food and drink to their employees, as well as additional convenience.

In late 2020, the two companies commenced work on developing the concept, the retailer said.

Rollout Plan

Initially, 20 'to go' outlets will open in various offices across the Netherlands, offering self-service and digital convenience.

In addition to offices, the collaboration between Albert Heijn and Selecta can expand to other settings, such as hotels, hospitals, and educational institutions.

The companies expect to open at least 100 stores by the end of this year, including the offices of RWE in Eemshaven and Crocs in Hoofddorp.

In Belgium, the Selecta office will be the first location for the concept, followed by a rollout in at least 25 other locations.
