Aldi UK has launched a one-kilogramme box of domestically grown cherries in its stores, in a bid to make 'British fresh produce affordable for all'.
The SKUs – which the chain says costs 20% less than directly comparable products sold by other retailers in the UK – retail at £3.79 each, and boast a Union Jack on the label to emphasise their provenance. The cherries went on sale across Aldi's UK store estate last week.

Tony Baines, joint managing director of corporate buying at Aldi, commented, “As the Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year, we are excited to launch a 1kg box of fresh British cherries at a market-leading price.
“It is part of our ongoing commitment to make quality, British fresh produce affordable and available for all. We’re also delighted that we can further support homegrown farmers, who are enjoying a fantastic crop this summer.”
The produce is sourced from Berry Gardens based in Tonbridge, Kent.
