Murciana de Vegetales – Specialists In High-Quality Lettuce Varieties

Since 1990, Murciana de Vegetales has focused on the cultivation, packaging and commercialisation of lettuce specialties for the main European supermarkets, markets and catering.

The company's specialties, including Little Gem, Baby Red, Roman, Mini Roman, Red Mini Roman, Crest and Oval Salad, are distinguished by their flavour, texture, shelf life and quality guarantees.

Red Lettuce

Murciana de Vegetales also boasts a range of red-lettuce varieties, including Baby Red, Mini Romana Red and Cresta, the company's exclusive variety of red lettuce, developed following nine years of research by its research and development department.

In addition, the company offers a variety of Little Gem that boasts a longer shelf life, grown exclusively in Spain.

All of the company's production is carried out in house, with crops located in different areas of Murcia, Almeria and Albacete, to mitigate against any potential risks and ensure a regular supply throughout the year.

Murciana de Vegetales gives maximum importance to its quality and sanitary guarantees, and it is certified with QS, GLOBAL GAP (GRASP), IFS and BRC certification. In addition, the company operates its own laboratory, certified by ENAC.

Back To Nature

Lastly, in a society that is increasingly aware of the need to use more sustainable resources, the company is seeking to use fewer and fewer chemical products in its growing processes, substituting them with natural products, such as garlic extract, chrysanthemum extract, mimosa extract and fortifying fertilisers – something that the environment will undoubtedly appreciate.

At the same time, Murciana de Vegetales is focused on reducing the use of nitrates – again, to lessen the environmental impact. Currently, it is applying fertiliser without nitrates to 80% of its crops.

It promotes ethical commerce, both with clients and suppliers, which is evidenced by its SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) certification, an audit procedure that focuses on workers' health and safety and labour standards.
