Sainsbury’s Introduces Bike Delivery Service In Brighton And Bristol

UK retailer Sainsbury’s has announced that it has launched its bike delivery service Chop Chop in Brighton and Bristol.

The service delivers groceries to customers’ doorsteps within an hour in a bid to help those who are self-isolating or are unable to go to the stores for essential products.

Customers can order up to 20 Sainsbury’s products from a tailored range of around 3,000 essential grocery and household items via the Chop Chop app, the retailer added.

'Speed And Convenience'

Chief digital officer at Sainsbury’s, Clodagh Moriarty, commented, “We are doing everything we can to feed the nation and offer our customers quick, convenient and safe ways to get their groceries.

“Demand for home grocery deliveries has never been higher and we have been receiving great feedback for Chop Chop, with customers valuing the speed and convenience it brings.”

The service will be rolled out in 20 cities across the UK, offering faster grocery deliveries to customers outside of London.

Sainsbury’s added that it plans to extend it to Manchester, Reading and Richmond, Morden, Charlton and Harringay in Greater London this week.

By mid-June, 50 Sainsbury’s stores will offer the service, allowing 3.2 million households to avail of the service.

The expansion will help in increasing the total number of online grocery delivery slots to 600,000 per week, Sainsbury's added.

Pilot Phase

In the beginning of April, Sainsbury’s rolled out the service across London and conducted trials for home deliveries from closed convenience stores.

The retailer then improvised the service based on customer feedback and learning before extending it to other cities in the UK.
