Spanish Cereal Harvest Expected To Be One Of The Biggest In Recorded History

The Spanish cereal harvest is likely to hit 23.45 million tonnes this year, surpassing by over 25 per cent the 18.6 million tonnes reported in 2015 and getting close to 2013's 24.1 million tonnes.

As reported by financialfood.es, Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias Castilla-La Mancha confirmed that its cereal harvest surpassed 4.5 million tonnes, which represents an increase of 44 per cent compared to last season.

Many areas are doubling production, including those that had a good harvest in 2015.

Globally, the trend is similar in many locations and according to the International Council of Cereals, it is expected that the season 2016/2017 will be the second biggest in recorded history and could even break records.
