Kraft Heinz Announces Commitment To 100% Recyclable Packaging By 2025

US-based food giant Kraft Heinz has announced plans make 100% of its packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable across the globe by 2025.

The group is seeking to reduce its natural resource needs and manage its environmental footprint.

“Our collective industry has a massive challenge ahead of us with respect to packaging recyclability, end-of-life recovery and single-use plastics,” said Bernardo Hees, CEO at Kraft Heinz.

“Even though we don’t yet have all the answers, we owe it to current and future generations who call this planet ‘home’ to find better packaging solutions and actively progress efforts to improve recycling rates. That’s why Kraft Heinz is placing a heightened focus on this important environmental issue.”

Collaboration

Kraft Heinz will ‘aggressively’ search for other methods of packaging with the support of external collaboration in order to advance its commitments.

The group has already collaborated with Environmental Packaging International on consulting, tracking and other specialist services in the industry.

In a statement, Kraft Heinz said that it is looking to explore technical, end-of-life and infrastructure solutions.

It added that it will further outline its strategy and timeline for achieving these goals in its next CSR Report which is due to be released next year.

Kraft Heinz was recently linked with a takeover bid for The Campbell Soup Company.
