Mondi Showcases Flexible On-The-Go Packaging

International packaging and paper group Mondi is taking advantage of the growing snacks-on-the-go market, presenting new innovations in flexible packaging at the Packaging Innovations event in Amsterdam on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November.

Europe has a fast-growing appetite for snacks on the go, with retail research firm IGD expecting it to grow from £16.1 billion this year to £21.7 billion in 2021, and Mondi is focusing on convenient, flexible packaging options that are optimal for today's busy consumer.

At the event, the company is showing short product movies using augmented-reality technology and offering an interactive display that allows visitors to scan a particular pack format with their phone to learn about its specifications and benefits.

Packaging innovations such as StripePack, which can easily open and close to retain freshness, and CornerPack, with a perforated corner for easy opening, are on show.

Its PaperPack bag with window, providing a clear view of the contents, helps the product stand out on the shelf, the company said, whereas its ArtPack offer, winner of the 'Design & Finishing' category at the German Packaging Awards 2016, has a natural, paper-like finish, with all of the protective qualities of a flexible film.

Peter Ellens, regional manager for Mondi Consumer Goods Packaging in the Benelux countries, commented, "We show the latest, innovative, flexible packaging solutions brought to this market to reflect the increasing trend of consumer convenience."
