Spanish Packaging Firm Saica Buys Ireland-Based Americk

Spanish packaging firm Saica has purchased Irish-based Americk, which produces labels and cartons for consumer goods, for an undisclosed amount, The Irish Times reports.

Americk was established in the 1980s, and predominantly produces labels for drinks bottles and printed cartons for tea and biscuits. The newspaper understands that the current chief executive, Patrick Doran, Jr, will remain at the helm following the move.

“This agreement allows us to enter the flexible-packaging market in Ireland and the UK more actively, hand in hand with a leading player,” commented Ramon Alejandro, president of Saica.

In closing the deal, Americk was advised by IBI Corporate Finance, while Saica was advised by Catalyst Corporate Finance.
