Portuguese food retailer Continente has received awards for 10 of its private label products at the Great Taste Awards 2017.
Most of the winners were typical regional products, proving the superior quality of Portuguese national production, according to Continente.
Winners included products from the Continente Seleção range, including Garvão Black Pork Ham, Wild Salad, Blackened Pork Loin, Azeitão Sheep's Cottage Cheese, Cherry Sweet Tomato (pictured) and Copita Pork Meat. These products were awarded a 'two-star' rating, indicating products that are 'exceptional'.
Among products classified with one star, which are defined as 'simply delicious', were Beira Baixa Amarelo DOP Cheese, Continente’s Fresh Whipped Cheese 0%.and Sheep's Cheese from Serpa, also part of the Continente Seleção range.
The competition takes place every year, and across two decades has already evaluated more than 100,000 products. Winning products are duly marked so that consumers can identify them.
