Eroski Adds More Fresh Products To Its Eroski Natur Brand
Spanish supermarket chain Eroski has announced that it has expanded the product range offered under its private label Eroski Natur. The range now comprises more than 500 references of fresh, sustainability-certified products.
The cooperative is offering more options in fresh products, which include fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and eggs.
The move is a part of the company's vision to promote a sustainable diet to consumers that is also healthy.
All products in the range are sourced from suppliers who comply with sustainability standards recognised though certifications.
Fruits and vegetables are sourced from producers who have a Global GAP or Integrated Production certification.
Fish sold under the Eroski Natur brand comes with Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, which guarantees its origin to sustainable fishing grounds.
In June, Eroski became the first Spanish distribution chain to pass the Global GAP certified aquaculture chain of custody audit.
Beef is sourced from local suppliers who raise and breed their livestock traditionally.
The company has also increased the volume of free-range eggs sold under the label Eroski Natur. Eggs sold under the brand are expected to be 100% free-range by 2024.
In August of this year, the company announced a collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on a solidarity campaign focussed on forest conservation and ecosystem recovery.
