Leading grocery operators in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the UK, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Sweden, Norway and Portugal are among close to 50 finalists announced for the European Private Label Awards 2019, organised by ESM: European Supermarket Magazine in association with M.A.D.E. (Marques Associées Distribution Event).
Now in their second year, the European Private Label Awards are fast-becoming a barometer for private label excellence, with participating retailers and suppliers from right across the European grocery landscape.
Entries to this year’s competition were double that of the previous year, and the 48 finalists named across 12 Awards categories include some of the biggest names in European retail: Lidl, REWE Group, Carrefour, ASDA, Dunnes Stores, SPAR, Coop Norge, Consum, Sainsbury’s, ICA, Franprix, Real and more. Scroll down to discover this year's finalists.
In addition, the Awards pay tribute to the companies behind retailer own-brands, with suppliers from across the continent also acknowledged in the list of finalists.

Best Of The Best
The Awards, which are open to both retailers and suppliers, were launched in 2017, as a contest to determine the most innovative store brands on sale in Europe’s supermarkets.
The Awards celebrate the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to store brand innovation right across Europe, and showcase the dynamism of both retailers and suppliers when it comes to developing products that can compete, and in many cases outperform, the biggest brands in the marketplace. This year’s awards were proudly sponsored by M.A.D.E. (Marques Associées Distribution Event), the annual retail and consumer goods trade exhibition in Paris, and the team at ESM: European Supermarket Magazine would like to extend their sincere thanks to M.A.D.E. for their assistance in this year’s competition. The process doesn’t stop here, however, with ESM Issue 1, 2019, due to be published in February, set to reveal the winners of this year’s competition.
ESM would like to extend a hearty congratulations to all the retailers and suppliers that have made it to this stage, and express our gratitude to all the companies that submitted products for the awards. For more information about the Awards, visit www.privatelabelawards.com.
