Greencore Resumes Production In Northampton Facility

Convenience foods firm Greencore has announced that it has resumed production on a limited basis in its Northampton facility after an outbreak of COVID-19.

The company ceased production in the site after more than 200 workers tested positive for the virus in the middle of August.

The Northampton facility has also undergone a thorough deep-cleaning process, the company said.

A small group of employees have returned to work after completing their self-isolation period and the process is being carried out in close consultation with the department of health and social care, Public Health England and other government bodies.

Payments And Bonuses

The company also confirmed that all employees of the facility who have been required to self-isolate during August and September and are contractually on Statutory Sick Pay, will receive 80% of their basic pay.

In addition, all workers who are paid weekly will receive an additional payment of £400. The payment is part of an attendance-based bonus, normally paid at the end of the year

This year, the company has waived the usual criteria and is giving it to all weekly paid workers, regardless of their attendance record.

The payment follows on from a recent bonus which averaged £260 per worker for all weekly paid front-line staff in recognition of their contribution during the lockdown.
