Irish Ham Plant Halts Production After An Outbreak Of COVID-19

A ham production plant in Kildare in Ireland has suspended all processing operations after 80 staff members tested positive for COVID-19, according to a report in The Irish Times.

The plant, operated by O’Brien’s Fine Foods, manufactures cooked ham for the Brady Family brand, among other products.

O’Brien’s Fine Foods said in a statement that the company has already tested 243 employees in the facility and 42 are underway.

The warehousing facility in the plant will operate at minimum staffing and capacity levels.

The company has initiated a full risk assessment process along with a deep clean of the facility in the interest of employees and public health.
