5Post Launches Its Own Network Of Parcel Pick-Up Points

Russia’s X5 Retail Group has announced that 5Post has launched its own parcel pick-up points in Pyaterochka stores.

At present, the retailer is testing pick-up points in five pilot stores in Moscow and the Moscow region.

It plans to open around 45 pick-up points in St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and other cities with a population of more than one million by the end of this year.

The shop-in-shop pick-up points are located inside Pyaterochka stores and comprise a customer service area and warehouse zone.

Initially, the service will only process orders placed through OZON, X5 said.

The move will help the retailer to expand the range of pick-up services provided at Pyaterochka stores and improve the quality of dealing with rapidly growing traffic.

'Leading The Charge'

Vitaly Dyrdasov, managing director at 5Post, commented, "The Click & Collect segment is leading the charge in continued global online delivery market growth.

"Customers appreciate this service because the parcel can be picked up at a convenient time and there is no need to wait for a courier, as well as the low cost of the service and the proximity format."

The pick-up points will also contribute to a greater throughput for order collection at checkout counters and parcel lockers in Pyaterochka stores, X5 added.

The service aims to cater to basic customer requirements, offer a greater array of tools for partners and facilitate access to new market segments.

It also offers additional features such as the try-before-buy experience, partial returns, check-on-delivery, a simplified returns procedure and delivery of non-standard size and extra-large products.

5Post, a subsidiary of Х5 Retail Group, offers parcel delivery services for non-food online stores that leverage X5's network of stores and its logistics infrastructure.
