Albert Heijn To Expand Partnership With BP In The Netherlands

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has announced plans to expand its retail partnership with BP to more than 100 gas stations in the Netherlands.

The retailer with roll-out Albert Heijn ‘to go’ stores in select BP filling stations to offer customers a range of fresh food and drinks.

The partnership aims to provide a unique convenience range tailored to meet the needs of customers at specific site locations, the retailer said.

Marit van Egmond, CEO Albert Heijn, said, "This cooperation with BP seamlessly fits with our growth strategy. We want to be there for our customers anywhere and everywhere.

"Customers need tailor-made solutions, especially when it comes to food and drinks. Their choices may change from moment to moment."

Successful Pilot Project

The decision to expand the partnership follows a successful pilot project, launched in 2016, in eight BP gas stations.

The pilot stores offered barista-quality coffee, sandwiches, salads, croissants, and snacks, as well as fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

Ruben Beens, CEO of BP Netherlands, said, "With Albert Heijn ‘to go’ at our retail sites, we’re meeting a growing demand for convenience, offering a wide, innovative and high-quality range of food and drinks for on the road.

"Together with our BP Ultimate premium fuels, we offer motorists everything they need at easily accessible locations across the country, with extensive opening hours."
