Andrius Jurgelevičius To Head Barbora In The Baltic States

Lithuanian retailer Maxima Grupė has announced the appointment of Andrius Jurgelevičius as the manager of its online grocery business Barbora in the Baltic States.

He has served as the head of commerce at Barbora for the past six years and has worked in the company since its establishment.

'Forward-Looking Company'

Commenting on his new role, Jurgelevičius said, “We are a forward-looking company with ambitions to strengthen our positions further and also to develop online trade standards in our home markets.

“We have constantly been searching for innovative solutions that improve the customer shopping experience. Therefore, I will focus on further improving the service and implementation of new functions in the Baltic States.”

Jurgelevičius succeeds Andrius Mikalauskas, who led Barbora since 2019.

Mikalauskas will focus on developing its business in Poland and continue as the director of Radas, which manages Barbora online stores in the Baltic States and Poland.

'Further Development Plans'

Mikalauskas added, “Barbora is taking its first steps in Warsaw, but we are already building further development plans. The main goal is to make the Polish Barbora the first choice for online shopping for residents of Warsaw, then moving to other cities of Poland.

“We have successfully achieved this in the Baltic States, and I believe that our business model will also pay off in Poland, with increasingly more residents of the country discovering and appreciating high quality of service and the best customer shopping experience.”

In 2020, Barbora witnessed rapid growth and generated a turnover of €50 million in the first half of the year.

It opened 95 Barbora Express goods pick-up stations during the first quarantine in the Baltic States.
