Carrefour Poland To Reduce Employee Numbers, Simplify Operations

Carrefour Poland has announced that it plans to cut its workforce by around 3%, as it continues to streamline its business in line with its Carrefour 2022 strategy.

Some 400 employees, most of whom occupy middle management roles at the group's hypermarkets, are to be affected, the retailer said

'Customer Advisors'

At the same time, the retailer said that it plans to create new positions for 'customer advisors' in its stores, as well as a range of new customer service roles.

"Since 2018, Carrefour has been implementing the Carrefour 2022 strategic transformation plan in Poland," commented Tareck Ouaibi, vice president of the management board and chief operating officer at Carrefour Polska.

"Following two years of activities based on this strategy, the results we have achieved confirm our belief that the most important direction in which we want to go is to build the best customer experience and focusing all attention on our shopper's needs."

The Carrefour 2022 plan is based around four main pillars, nutritional transformation, omnichannel transformation, the development of a more simplified and open organisation, and boosting the company's productivity and competitiveness.

This includes the 'Act for Food' programme, an initiative to enable Polish shoppers to make healthier food choices.

'Future Development'

"We believe that all these elements constitute a platform for the future development of Carrefour in the competitive market in Poland," Ouaibi added. "Customer satisfaction will guarantee the stable development of our company in Poland."

Carrefour operates some 900 stores in Poland, across six formats, as well as online, and also runs a network of 20 shopping centres in the country.
