Coop Italia Remains Italy’s Food Retail Market Leader

Coop Italia has confirmed its position as the leading food retailer in Italy, with an 18.7 per cent market share (hyper and super markets) and turnover of €12.5 billion.

According to the cooperative’s annual report for 2015, profits rose to €144 million in 2015.

During 2015, Coop reinforced its convenience strategy, while also reformulating its private label product ranges, which account for over 26 per cent of sales value (unchanged from 2014) and for 33 per cent in volume.

Coopernic, the international alliance with Leclerc, Delhaize and Rewe, has generated significant savings during negotiations with large suppliers, it said.
