Dutch Retailer Plus Posts Strong H1 2018 Figures
Dutch retailer Plus Supermarkt has announced a turnover of over €1.2 billion for the first half of 2018, saying that it is growing faster than its competitors in the Netherlands.
Plus said that it saw its sales grow by 4.3% in the first half of the year, compared to an overall market average of 2.7%.
The group has also increased its market share, albeit marginally, rising to 6.4% of the Dutch market in H1 2018, up from 6.33% a year earlier.
Behind The Numbers
According to the group, its improved performance is due to two main factors: first, its refurbishment programme, Brilliant 2.0, which the retailer launched in late 2016.
The programme has enabled the retailer to post an increase in turnover and customer satisfaction, it said.
Having added six stores to the programme in H1 2018, Plus indicated that more refurbishments are on the horizon later this year.
Secondly, it has its focus on its online retail operations, with the company enjoying a 2.5% increase in its online turnover.
Plus recently rolled out a two-hour home delivery service for groceries, called Plus Express, to more than 200 pickup points and 225 supermarkets.
