Edeka/Kaiser's Proposal to be Rejected: Reports

The controversy concerning the  takeover of German supermarket chain Kaiser's by German retailer Edeka appears to be coming to a close.

Last week, both Edeka and Kaiser's owner Tengelmann approached Germany's competition watchdog with an improved proposal in hopes of finally gaining approval for the deal.

However, the competition watchdog is rumoured to have rejected the new proposal as well, according to German newspaper Focus.

The final deadline for the competition authority's decision is 7 April , however Focus added  that a decision may already be reached on  2 April because of the upcoming Easter holidays.
