Finland's Kesko Sees Comparable Sales Rise In February

Finnish retailer Kesko Group has reported a 3.0% growth in comparable sales amounting to €797.9 million in February 2021.

The group operates various businesses in the food segment, home and specialty goods, the building and home improvement sector, and car and machinery trade.

Grocery Business

The company's grocery trade division generated sales worth €423.3 million in this period, up 0.2% year-on-year in reported and comparable terms.

Grocery sales in K-food stores increased by 6.9%, while wholesaler Kespro saw sales decline by 24.2%, impacted by restrictions imposed on restaurants, events, and travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic and people working from home.

Other Divisions

The building and technical trade division reported sales worth €296.7 million in February, reflecting an increase of 5.0% in comparable terms in local currencies. However, reported sales in the division decreased by 10.4%.

In the speciality goods trade segment, sales in the leisure trade increased by 2.7%.


Sales in the company's car trade division increased by 11.8% in February to €79.8 million, the retailer added.

Kesko has reported Kesko Senukai as a joint venture from 1 July 2020 onwards, and consequently, its sales are not included in the reported sales for February 2021.
