Current Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG chief executive Olaf Koch will continue to lead the group until at least 2022, following the signing of employment contracts for the management board of the renamed Metro AG business.
Koch signed a contract that will keep him at Metro AG until 1 March 2022.
In addition, chief financial officer Christian Baier, COO Pieter Boone and CHRO Heiko Hutmacher have each signed contracts up until 30 September 2020.

"We are very pleased to see that the future Metro AG will be managed by this strong management board team. This is reflected in the unanimous vote of the supervisory board", commented Jürgen B. Steinemann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG.
"We purposefully decided upon a longer than usual contractual term for Olaf Koch. With this move, we wanted to send a clear signal, both internally and externally, that the strategic alignment of the future Metro is driven sustainably and with the necessary continuity".
As well as heading up the future Metro AG, Koch, Boone and Hutmacher will also remain on the management board of Ceconomy AG, the business responsible for Metro’s Media Saturn operation, together with Pieter Haas and Mark Frese.
