Mercator Invests Over €50 Million In Montenegro

Mercator CG, owned by Croatian consortium Agrokor, has invested over €50 million in Montenegro, where it has reported good operating results.

In an interview for local newspaper Pobjeda, Mercator CG CEO, Ivan Karadžić, said the company currently operates 103 stores in 16 municipalities across Montenegro, employing 1,500 people.

He added that Mercator CG opened 17 new stores in the country in 2015 and has boosted its product offering.

The retailer recently completed the rebranding of its Roda supermarkets and hypermarkets as Idea.

According to Karadžić, Idea represents “a strong regional brand, which is recognized as a synonym for quality fresh produce, a pleasant atmosphere and friendly efficient service”.
