Nestlé, Danone, Unilever Among Firms Recognised For Climate Efforts

CDP, a global environmental impact non-profit, has announced its annual ‘A List’, recognising businesses which are leading the way in environmental performance.

Nestlé has been named among the companies featured on this year's edition of the list, along with other industry performers, including Danone, Unilever and Sainsbury’s.

The CDP's annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is recognised as the benchmark for corporate environmental transparency.

The ‘A list’ recognises businesses which are leading the way in environmental performance.

Responding to the announcement, Nestlé’s executive vice president and head of operations, Magdi Batato said, "Nestlé is pleased to be on the CDP climate 'A list' again this year. This pays tribute to our leadership in climate change, which is one of the biggest threats we face as a society and to the sustainability of our business."

Last year, the company announced plans to accelerate its action to tackle climate change and commit to zero net emissions in its value chain by 2050.

The company’s plan to achieve this goal includes ‘restoring farmland and forests', 'increasing the use of renewable energy', 'reformulating products that have a better environmental footprint' and 'contributing to a balanced diet', the company said.

Nestlé also announced plans to invest up to CHF 2 billion in accelerating the development of innovative sustainable packaging solutions and lead the transition from virgin plastics to food-grade recycled plastics.
