Poland’s Biedronka Extends Opening Hours Of Stores

Polish retailer Biedronka has announced plans to extend the opening hours of its stores to ensure the safety of customers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the plan, more than 40 Biedronka outlets across Poland will operate 24/7, and approximately 650 stores until 23:30 hours.

The retailer added that it has already extended the opening hours of almost 2,600 Biedronka stores until 23:00 hours.

The move is part of the company’s Akcja 24 (Action 24) campaign, which was first implemented in April of this year.

'Promoting Good Solutions'

Paweł Stolecki, operational director at Biedronka, commented, “As a market leader, we feel responsible for promoting good solutions.

"Akcja 24 enables the purchase of necessary products throughout Poland in safe conditions. Customers appreciated this solution the first time, we believe it will be the same now.”

Other Initiatives

During the first wave of the pandemic, the retailer implemented various safety measures across its stores, such as plexiglass casings, tapes marking the distance between shoppers, and disposable gloves or disinfecting gels.

Biedronka also enabled residents of 21 Polish cities to shop online as well as via mobile applications through its collaboration with Glovo.

It also provided 3 million disposable masks and about 190,000 reusable ones for its employees.
