Sweden's ICA Sees Sales Up 2.9% In December

Swedish retailer ICA has posted a 2.9% increase in sales in December 2019, compared to the same period the previous year.

Like-for-like sales at the business were up 2.7% for the month.

In terms of its main banners, the group's Maxi ICA Stormarknad business posted a 3.9% increase in sales (+3.3% on a like-for-like basis), while ICA Kvantum was up 3.4% (+2.0% on a like-for-like basis).

Elsewhere, its ICA Supermarket division posted a 1.2% increase in sales (+2.5% on a like-for-like basis) and ICA Nära, the group's convenience division, posted a 2.9% increase in sales (+2.8% like-for-like).

Sales across its store estate stood at SEK 11.53 billion (€1.09 billion) for the month of December. It estimated the calendar effect for the month to be -0.4%.

Sales for the period January to December 2019 were up 3.1% to SEK 121.9 billion (€11.55 billion).
