Sweden's ICA Sees Sales Up 7.9% In May

Swedish retailer ICA has posted a 7.9% increase in sales across its store estate for the month of May 2020.

Like-for-like sales were up 7.7%, with the group's large-scale store banner, Maxi ICA Stormarknad, seeing the biggest increase in sales for the period.

Sales at Maxi ICA Stormarknad were up 12.3% for the month (like-for-like sales up 10.6%), with its ICA Kvantum banner posting a 7.9% increase (+7.3% like-for-like).

The group's ICA Supermarket banner saw sales up 3.3% (+4.6% like-for-like), while its ICA Nära convenience store operation posted a 7.9% increase in sales (+8.1% like-for-like).

Sales Total

Total sales across all ICA's divisions were SEK 11.16 billion in May (€1.08 billion), the retailer said.

The performance means that total sales across ICA's store estate for the period January to May 2020 is up 7.7%, or 7.4% on a like-for-like basis.

For the January to May period, total sales across the group were SEK 52.6 billion (€5.07 billion).
