Top UK Grocers Out Of Favour in Power List

There are no supermarkets represented in the top five of Retail Week's annual Power List for the first time since it was established.

The trade magazine said that this "reflects the unprecedented shift in food retail”, as reported by cityam.com.

Tesco's Dave Lewis was ranked at number six as the highest placed grocer, while Asda's CEO Andy Clarke was ranked at number eight and Sainsbury's CEO Mike Coupe followed in 13th place.

Aldi has dropped down the rankings, with Matthew Barnes falling from seventh to 10th place on the list.

Taking out number one spot was Dixons Carphone CEO, Sebastian James, who Retail Week crowned the most powerful person in British retail for this year, taking over from Next's Simon Wolfson.
