Carrefour Belgium Teams Up With Deliveroo For Grocery Deliveries

Carrefour Belgium has collaborated with Deliveroo to deliver groceries to customers' homes in less than 30 minutes, according to a report in www.gondola.be.

The service will allow tens of thousands of customers to order products from Carrefour via Deliveroo.

It will be rolled out in Brussels this weekend, followed by Antwerp, Ghent, and Liège at the end of this month, the report said.

The retailer had teamed up with Uber Eats previously, but is now relying on a new delivery partner in Deliveroo.

Product Range

Customers can choose from a range of approximately 1,193 products, including ready meals, fruit and vegetables, snacks, cleaning products, organic items, as well as baby care or pet care products.

Deliveroo will accept orders until 19:30 hours on all days of the week.

In addition to standard delivery, customers can also opt for a free-of-charge pick-up service.

It will allow shoppers to place their orders with Deliveroo and pick it up 10 minutes later from Carrefour stores.

Growth Potential

Aurélie Gerth, spokesperson at Carrefour Belgium, believes that the initiative has the potential to grow further and can be scaled up further at a later stage.

Carrefour and Deliveroo aim to demonstrate the future of local buying to consumers through this new venture.

The initiative is also part of the Carrefour Group's ambition to facilitate the purchase of products through new partnerships and channels, the report added.

The collaboration with a supermarket chain is a first for Deliveroo in Belgium.

However, it has teamed up with Monoprix and Picard in France, Carrefour and Fresco in Italy, and Waitrose & Partners in the UK, among others.
