IKEA And Carrefour Collaborate On Collection Points

IKEA and Carrefour Polska are planning a long-term cooperation to allow customers of medium-sized cities with no IKEA bricks-and-mortar stores to collect goods previously purchased in its online store.

Currently, IKEA mobile order collection points currently operate in the parking areas of Galeria Carrefour outlets in eight Polish cities.

Collection Points

The collection points operate in specially designated areas within parking lots of Carrefour shopping centres, giving Polish shoppers an easily accessible and safe collection option.

When placing an order in the IKEA online store, the customer can choose the preferred pickup point and a convenient date for collecting orders.

Ewa Karska, director of the Carrefour Polska department responsible for the group's shopping malls, said the collaboration between IKEA and Carrefour is "an example of cooperation that makes life easier for customers and brings them closer to a store that is physically absent in their cities."

'As Available As Possible'

IKEA's director of business development and transformation in Poland, Małgorzata Bochenek, said the group "wanted to be even closer and make it easier" for customers to pick up the ordered products so that they would "become as available as possible, regardless of whether it is possible to visit an IKEA store close to where they live."

Bochenek acknowledged the difficulties imposed on people by lockdown restrictions, saying "the house has become a multifunctional centre of our lives and often serves as an office, school, and even a fitness club," adding that IKEA wishes to help customers through this period.
