Ireland's ABP To Launch Beef Products On JD.com

Irish meat supplier ABP is to launch a range of beef products on Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com.

The group has signed a deal with Beijing Hopewise, a meat processor with Shanghai and Beijingm which in turn will package the beef into products to be sold on JD.com, for direct-to-home delivery.

In a statement, ABP said that the practice of purchasing beef products online is one of the fastest-growing trends in the Chinese market.

Premium Products

“ABP is delighted to be the first European processor to offer premium beef products to China’s growing online marketplace," commented Mark Goodman, managing director of ABP’s International Division.

"This deal is a further tangible endorsement of the quality beef that Ireland and ABP continues to offer. We look forward to building on our relationships in the Chinese market, and working closely with both the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Bord Bia to continue to grow the market share for Irish beef in China.”

The deal marks ABP's second contract in China, with the business previously announcing a three-year agreement with restaurant group Wowprime Corporation. It also recently extended its range of steaks available at YATA, a Hong Kong supermarket chain.

ABP also exports Irish beef to the Philippines and Japan.
