Kaufland To Add Nutri-Score Labels To More Private-Label Products

German retailer Kaufland has announced plans to add Nutri-Score labelling to more store-brand products including the 'K-to go' and 'K-free' brands.

From December onwards, the retailer aims to gradually roll out Nutri-Score labelled 'K-to go' and 'K-free' products in around 1,300 stores across Germany and Europe.

The company will also share more information about the labelling of these products on its website.

'Informative And Easy To Understand'

Lena Munk, managing director of international purchasing at Kaufland, said, “The Nutri-Score is informative and easy to understand. It goes without saying for us to support and promote a uniform and comprehensive international solution."

At the beginning of this year, Kaufland started rolling out private-label products with Nutri-Score score labels.

First among these was the 'K-Bio' range, followed by the 'K-take it veggie' SKU in June.

Kaufland added that it was among the first retailers to introduce Nutri-Score labels to its own-brand products.

The Nutri-Score is a five-level, colour-coded system, which indicates the nutritional value of food items with the letters A to E.

Each letter corresponds to a colour – green, light green, yellow, orange and red.
