X5 Retail Group Launches New Cargo Transportation Service GoCargo

Russia’s X5 Retail Group has unveiled a new solution for booking cargo transportation services online, named GoCargo.

The service enables users to place shipping orders, and utilises private carriers based on the cargo’s location and delivery address. The retailer will roll out the platform in 2017 to all of its networks, and it will be used for 100% of the group’s third party shipping orders.

X5 also plans to make the service available to other cargo shippers in the near future.

“GoCargo will enable X5 to manage transportation more efficiently by optimising third-party transportation services and cutting logistics costs,” commented Timur Parshikov, X5’s director of transport.

The system is integrated into X5 Retail Group’s ERP infrastructure, which expedites the process of searching for and booking transport.
