Britain’s Co-op To Source Own-Brand Bread From Jacksons

Britain's Co-operative Group has announced that it will source bread for its private-label range from Jacksons, a Yorkshire-based baker.

Jacksons, a sixth-generation family baking business from Hull in Yorkshire, will start supplying bread to the retailer from the spring of next year.

A 'Brilliant Opportunity'

MD of Jacksons, Dorian Hiles, described the collaboration as a “brilliant opportunity” and added, “The William Jackson Food Group, which owns Jacksons, has a long history with Co-op and is closely aligned in terms of quality and values, and it’s great to be able to build on this relationship even further.”

The retailer will also co-operate with Britain’s largest bakery brand and fifth-generation family business, Warburtons, to enable fresh daily deliveries through its logistic network and distribution hubs.

Neil Campbell, MD of Warburtons, said, “We are always looking at how we can work collaboratively with our customers to ensure the long-term growth of the bakery category.

The retailer’s collaboration with Jacksons and Warburtons is part of the company’s efforts to find new ways to offer products and services to consumers.

Sinead Bell, director of chilled food and bakery at Co-op, added, “Co-op is committed to meeting our customers’ needs for great quality, delicious bread and bakery products and, creating value in our communities through co-operation and working together is at the heart of our approach.”
