Coop Sweden Names Head Of New Digital Unit

Coop Sweden has named entrepreneur and AI expert, Amer Mohammed, as the head of its new digital unit, effective 1 October 2019.

He will be responsible for building the new unit, which has been established to accelerate the company's digital transformation.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO of Coop, Magnus Johansson, said, "He has deep technical expertise combined with experience from both starting his own successful [technology] companies and having driven digital [transformation] in large companies."

An Experienced Professional

Mohammed is an experienced professional who most recently, served as the chief digital officer in Cap Gemini. Before this, he was the head of innovation and transformation at Stena AB.

He started his career at the age of 23 with Singelton Solutions in Switzerland, which was at that time the world's first web-based distribution system for free newspapers.

Later, he founded the award-winning health app - Healthy Heroes.

Commenting on his new role, Mohammed said, "The food industry has so far only scratched the surface of the opportunities that digitalisation and AI are opening up.

"I look forward to driving this development that will change both how we shop and how we eat."
