Dansk Supermarked Group Launches Mobile Payment Scheme

Danish retailer Dansk Supermarked Group has announced the launch of a new partnership with payment services provider Nets, which will see customers pay for goods in store using their mobile phones.

From the start of next year, shoppers in selected Netto, Føtex, Bilka and Salling stores will be able to avail of the service, with all stores expected to be fitted out with mobile payment terminals by the end of March.

The retailer said that the move will 'make it possible for all Danes to pay with their mobile, by offering the most modern payment solutions'.

"We have recently seen the contactless credit card account for almost 10% of transactions in Denmark, and it continues to rise," said Asger Hattel, chief executive of Nets. "The mobile credit card is the natural extension of this trend."
