Finland's Kesko Sees Sales Decline In April

Finnish retailer Kesko has reported a 2.5% year-on-year decline in sales from continuing operations, to €902 million, for the month of April 2020.

The company attributed this decline to restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic.

In comparable terms, sales decreased by 2.1% in the period, the retailer added.

Divisional Performance

Sales in the company’s grocery trade division amounted to €474.2 million in April, down 1.5%.

Grocery sales in K-food stores increased by 11.4% in April, while the retailer’s HoReCa division Kespro reported a sales decline of 51.2%.

Sales of home and speciality goods in K-Citymarket stores also declined in the period.
