German retailer Lidl, in cooperation with energy supplier E.on, has announced its plans to become a provider of green electricity. The new service, called Lidl-Strom, will be available from 3 July onwards.
The retailer says that Lidl-Strom energy will offer 'a significant price advantage' in comparison with most local providers, and there will be a comprehensive price guarantee until 31 January 2019. In addition to the tariff, customers will receive a €10 shopping voucher when entering the contract.
Sustainable Partnership
With this new environmentally friendly development, Lidl says that it is further expanding its position as a responsible retailer. The green electricity provided by E.on originates entirely from renewable energies, such as wind, solar and hydropower, and from Tüv-certified power plants.
“Together with E.on, we offer our customers green electricity at a reasonable Lidl price, originating from sustainable and renewable sources," said Jan Bock, managing director of purchasing at Lidl Germany.
"With E.on, we found a cooperation partner that ensures a secure and reliable supply for our customers. Lidl-Strom makes it possible for everyone to do something for our environment,” Bock said.
