Picnic Expands Its Delivery Service In Germany

Online supermarket group Picnic has expanded its reach in Germany with the opening of a new market in Bochum, in the Ruhr area.

Picnic, which is originally from the Netherlands, offers free delivery, a wide selection of food and daily necessities, and the cheapest available prices in the market, the company said in a statement.

Increasing Popularity

The company commenced operations in Germany around a year ago, in the Rhineland and currently has more than 35,000 customers there.

"Every day we receive hundreds of inquiries from people from Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund and Hamm", commented Frederic Knaudt, member of Picnic's founding team in Germany.

"As Germany's only online supermarket offering free delivery, lowest prices and a 20-minute delivery window, we have already gained many enthusiastic and loyal customers in the Rhineland during the last twelve months, who do all their weekly shopping with Picnic."

Currently, customers can register for a waiting list in Bochum via the Picnic app.

Picnic said that it is currently looking for a location for a second refrigerated warehouse in the area, in order to supply even more cities.
