Intermarché Opens Two Hypermarkets In Portugal

French retailer Intermarché has opened two hypermarkets in Portugal since the start of the year.

In Santa Iria da Azóia, the company reopened an existing store, featuring a new concept that allows for a simpler and quicker shopping experience. Among the services offered by the new look hypermarket are a bar, cafeteria, take away, wine cellar and restaurant, based on traditional Portuguese cuisine.

A 'Drive' service will also be available soon, enabling customers to shop online and pick goods up at the store when it suits them.

Elsewhere, Intermarché also opened a new hypermarket in Gafanha da Nazaré, the 244th store in the retailer’s network.

The new openings form part of the company's 2015-2020 expansion plan, which anticipates the opening of 63 stores by 2020, taking the total to 294, and an investment of €200 million.
